A piece of ma heart!
I was three when I first saw him. A petite life covered in warm blue wraps snuggling next to my mom. I recollect my parents being congratulated for the bundle of joy. Honestly, I didn't like him initially since the entire attention of the family shifted to him. I wondered why every one suddenly forgot me. I was asked not to make noise when he slept while the family enjoyed him cooing and squeeking! That was quite partial I thought... Slowly the realization dawned on me that I had no choice but share my parent's love with him.
As days passed I started growing fond of him. I started observing him closely... I looked wonder eyed at his tiny feet kicking me,his delicate fingers clutching my hair. When mom sleeps at noon I use to sneak into the room filled with the fragrance of baby talc and lotion . I loved to watch him sleep... the slightest expressions that varied on his cute face; fascinated me. He was more like my best summer gift; a wonderful little toy!My little brother... we grew up with our share of best cat fights and good times.
With passing years,we became best buddies, partners in crime to be precise. Those initial days when I used to pen down little rhymes,I best described him as "a piece of my heart". I had to bribe him with his favourite WWF cards so that he won't let mom know that I got drenched in the rain. He had to bribe me with chocolates if I had to forge mom's signature on the test paper sheets. I recollect those lovely days when I used to walk miles to the only store in town to pick his favourite sugar coated jellies and the happiness in his eyes as he relished them use to heal my tiredness. He eagerly awaited to surprise me with my favourite chocolates every time I visited home during my hostel days.
Over years of caring, sharing and little fights; this charming young man has become an indispensable part of my life. Today, he is beaming as he exchange rings with his gorgeous fiancè. As I look at this lovely couple and pray the best of everything for them,my heart murmers..."Brother, you will always remain the most lovable piece of my heart!"

Invincible Smile
Like an ode to that naïve twilight...
Like a sonnet to the unblossomed bud...
There they stood.
Two little hearts canoeing down the river of love...
To salvage from perishing time.
And they held that undying smile...
Their invincible weapon!
Fighting dismay, rage and lament...
Their smile...was blunting the edges of those sharp memories.
